Man Gets On The Mat

April 17, 2017

Arriving for my first practice and pleasantly surprised to see 60-40 female to male ratio. The music and lighting created a welcoming environment.

The session started off gently but it wasn’t long before I discovered why it was called Strong Vinyasa!

This style of Yoga is a great opportunity to develop upper body strength due to the planks and Downward Facing Dog poses we do.

I’m not sure what I was expecting, but the class was certainly more challenging and active than I thought it would be. I was sweating at one point!

I enjoyed the chance to work on my hamstrings and benefited from having the use of the strap. I honestly can't remember the last time I stretched the back of my legs, so it's no wonder my hammies are tight!

I managed to the gym two days later and noticed a definite reduction in DOMS - that warm dull ache I would get for about 4 days after a workout was reduced on day two and gone on day three? Too early to tell if yoga is helping, there's some information to suggest it does, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

First class £5 (for guys or girls) when you mention Man On The Mat Blog!
