An original, one-of-a-kind interpretation of a much-loved Hindu deity.

Meet Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity associated with wisdom, new beginnings and the removal of obstacles. This limited-edition print takes inspiration from traditional Hindu iconography and gives it a little Do Your OM Thing twist.

In Hindu mythology, Ganesha is the son of Shiva and Parvati. His distinctive elephant head has a powerful origin story, and he is often invoked at the beginning of new ventures, journeys and creative endeavours. He represents the wisdom to navigate life's challenges, the discernment to know which obstacles need overcoming and the humility to learn along the way. He's also associated with good fortune, intellect and the ability to begin again.

In this reimagined illustration, Ganesha retains some of his familiar symbolism, including the lotus flower, while a bold, geometric maze-like pattern creates a striking backdrop. The vivid orange halo draws the eye towards the deity, contrasting with the muted tones and intricate black linework. Traditional imagery meets something a little more playful, graphic and contemporary.

Why I made this print

I've always been interested in the stories, symbolism and philosophy that sit behind yoga. For me, yoga is so much more than what happens on the mat; it's a way of engaging with life, exploring ourselves and finding meaning in the things we encounter.

Ganesha felt like a natural figure to explore. We all meet obstacles, whether they're external challenges, old habits, limiting beliefs or the uncertainty that comes with starting something new. Sometimes the obstacle is something we need to move through; sometimes it's an invitation to pause, change direction or look at things differently.

I wanted to create something that honours the mythology while allowing space for a more contemporary interpretation. The maze-like background speaks to the twists, turns and complexities of being human. The central figure reminds us that we can meet those complexities with curiosity, wisdom and a willingness to begin again.

This isn't an attempt to replace or redefine a traditional sacred image. It's my own creative response to the symbolism and stories that continue to inspire my yoga practice and teaching.

A little reminder that the path isn't always straightforward, that obstacles are part of the journey, and that sometimes we find our way by looking at things from a different perspective.
