Blessings in every word: how Bali inspires my January teachings

I've just got back from Sanur and every time I visit Bali, I’m reminded that the island doesn’t just have a landscape — it has a soundscape. The way people speak here has its own rhythm, its own softness, its own kind of magic.
Bahasa has this gentle, melodic flow — open vowels, easy pronunciation, and phrases that feel wrapped in kindness. Even the simplest expressions land like tiny blessings:
Hati-hati — take care. Pelan-pelan — slowly, gently. Semoga sehat selalu — may you always be healthy.
I went to a bunch of yoga classes and really noticed how the language threads itself into the practice. The class would be moving and breathing, and then the teacher softly says pelan-pelan — and the whole body suddenly understands. It’s an invitation to soften, to slow down, to let the moment breathe a little.

What stays with me most, is the quiet reverence of the island. The offerings, the incense, the bells — all these small daily gestures of devotion (bhakti yoga) that carry a gentle Hindu energy. It’s a living gratitude, woven through ordinary life. You don't need to travel to turn your practice into one of devotion, (bhakti), arrive for your class in good time so you can take some moments of quite reflection and prayer. I'm so excited for 2026, I have a great feeling about these upcoming months. But January is a strange month right, it's one where people may begin a year with harshness for themselves. My monthly members have a divine eBook to guide them to choose a different path. There's always time to becOMe a member and receive all the benefits of a regular practice, monthly eBook, guest passes and discounts.
However and whenever you're learning from me this month, join me bhakti yoga and devoting your formal practice. I've written a prayer to connect you to the energy of Bali.
May I move softly.
May I speak gently.
May I meet each moment with an open heart.
May gratitude guide my steps,
and may I remember that slowing down is sacred.
May I honour the seen and unseen,
and trust the quiet wisdom within.
Softly.
Gently.
Again and again.
I look forward to welcOMing you back to class from 7th January 2026.
