Core Challenge

Each week we do different things, there's always something new to try. I like the variety, today we used a chair to help develop postures. I quite like using props, in today's session I found the chair gave me stability I otherwise may not have had in some balancing postures.

This was a hard workout, I chose to do all of the 'vinyasas' which are sequences that involve press ups.

There was a strong focus on the core, which I love. Rather than isolating core muscles (like I do in the gym) we try to activate the core in all poses. I'm always going to enjoy ab crunches, but it's nice to train the same muscles, in different ways.

Trying to develop the ability to twist the core without moving the hips was a challenge today, but the atmosphere in class was fun and it was nice to know that I wasn't the only one sniggering to myself as my brain struggled to make my body do what it was told!

First class £5 (for guys or girls) when you mention Man On The Mat Blog!
